CARY, N.C. — Cary Area Emergency Medical Services will be conducting its Citizens’ Academy beginning April 3, 2008 and runs every Thursday until April 24, 2008.
This four-week educational program will provide an introduction to emergency medical services in an interactive environment. Instructors, all professional staff members with Cary Area EMS, will teach practical sessions about EMS and what function EMS plays in today’s society.
Participants will participate in hands-on classes, learn CPR, tour an emergency room and the 911 communication center.
In their course evaluations, one attendee said, “I was quite impressed with the sophistication of the equipment used and the extensive training the EMS technicians have.” Attendees, Cary and Morrisville area residents who want to learn how the system operates or others who want to know how to handle themselves in an emergency, said the class did more than just give them a chance to lectures. They got hands-on education.
The Academy will meet every Thursday during April with graduation the last Thursday of the month. Classes start at 6:30 p.m.
